India has remained high on my list for as long as I have been in love with travel and after spending a few more days than planned in Sri Lanka's favourite surf spot Arugam Bay, it was finally time to go. I decided to start at the bottom, in the South West state of Kerala, a place hugely popular amongst local and foreign travellers alike, famous for its beaches, backwaters and gorgeous tea-covered hillscapes.
